That was a little 'tongue-in-cheek.
Actually I have had many blow outs beginning soon after I bought my 1st
GMC in 75. Tire delamination was the big issue then. Just about every
tire I mounted was soon recalled for delamination (usually after I had a
flat or blow out). These were still bias ply era, perhaps rayon
contruction as I remember they thumped for the 1st few miles after
start-up.
Most of my blow outs were the leading rear tire and mostly on the
curbside. I presume this is the wheel that gets most of the stress as the
coach drops off and tries to regain the pavement.
The steel belts caused most body damage. I've been fortunate that the
last few blow outs were on Bridgestones and the company covered the body
damage as well as replacing the tires. After I switched to Cooper SMR IIs
I never had a poblem and got excellent wear from them as well putting on
40k miles of 4 years. And at a much lower cost.
So no control issues as all my blow outs were at the rear.
