If anyone's been looking for a Jeep Grand Cherokee "snorkle" like Emery's,
you should contact alljeepparts@yahoo.com; he has one. I know because it
spotted it on eBay a couple of days ago and meant to bid on it. Then I
found one at the junkyard today (after looking ever since Emery publicized
his years ago) so I wasn't as anxious to bid. I let the closing time slip
by without a bid and it closed with no bids despite no reserve and low
shipping cost. I planned to buy it for "trading material" if I could get it
cheap.

Speaking of the junkyard, I had a productive day there. I've been trying to
get to the BIG, nice Pull-a-Part in Atlanta to harvest essential parts for
the Cad 500 installation. Today someone told me about Speedup U Pick &
Pull, only 40 miles away. It's a typical old-style junkyard with only
nominal separation by manufacturer and almost totally random parking in the
big mud puddle. But, I probably had better luck there than I would have
had in Atlanta: In addition to the long-sought Jeep snorkel, I got the Ford
double serpentine crankshaft pulley and serpentine water pump pulleys I
need. Also a CS-130D alternator, recently rebuilt for ACDelco, along with
its aluminum mounting bracket which looks as if it might be modifiable to
fit the Cad 500. Also got a second air filter box that's likely to fit the
GMC better than that from the Jeep.

There are only a couple more items I know I need to complete the Cad
installation: a computer controlled distributor and a single exhaust pipe
to manifold flange. I know where I can get both of those, so my big problem
now is time. We should finish the engine this week; but, that will only
leave me a couple of days to design, fabricate, install, and adjust the
serpentine belt setup before I have help scheduled to help me raise it into
the GMC.
