Changed out OEM Air Compressor with a new Firestone single cyl.
The OEM was making a lot of noise and we did not have a lot of confidence in it so I bought a new pump from Jeff Sirum who BTW also changed out my bag system last Thursday.
Must say that the Coach rides higher, not sure it rides any better, but I changed the system because I needed a new left side bag before we did any serious travels.
Do not understand why the OEM pump was installed so that the air filters would be so difficult to service. Why did they not install the pump with the filter housings exposed instead of forcing us to remove the pump completely in order to clean/service the filters?
Is it worthwhile to overhaul these old pumps? I understand the kits cost almost as much as a new pump. I do like to tinker with things and thought about putting a kit in just to have a spare.
Now I have 3 OEM bags with Cones and a compressor that works but makes a lot of noise. Methinks I have too many extra parts and if I am going to carry them around I will soon need a trailer. <vbg>
