My new Suburban SF 35 worked fine for a week but new blows cold. It's been down around freezing for a while but the furnace has kept me wam although it runs most of the time. The thermostat is also maxed out. Yesterday it felt a bit cold so I turned the thermostat down then up again and the furnce came on. I had to do this several times. Now the fan runs but no heat. There is no troubleshooting info in the literature that came with it. Anyone know what the deal is? I have 13 volts at the furnace and plenty propane.

Lance,
You need to separate two possible issues here, by that I mean the thermostat
and the furnace.

The thermostat is a on/off set point device with some dead band. Turning up
the set point to higher temperature than you need to feel comfortable will
not get it any hotter quicker than setting it to the temp you want. Which
style thermostat do you have. One of the analog where you set the
temperature with a lever or a battery powered digital where you set the temp
by pushing a up or down button to set the desired temperature? I would
suggest replacing the batteries if you have the second style.

As for the SF-35 furnace here is a link to the SF Series Service Manual.

Are you sure that you actually have propane in the tank. Does your stove
still work?
Furnaces are a gas hog when it comes to emptying the tank in the GMC and can
do it in week if as you say it has been running all the time. The LP tank
only holds 62 pounds when full. I only got 7 or 8 days the last time I tried
to heat on LP only. I heat the coach with 2 1500W cube heaters when parked
and hitched to shore power. I can keep the coach at about 63 deg with one
as I work on it in the barn doing upgrades.

Thanks fellas. It was the thermostat. $13.00 got me going again. We'll see what crops up next.

Oh good. I was thinking like JR, gas not getting to it. We put a new one in 2 years ago, sf 30 I think. Has worked flawlessly. I did put a new thermostat on it just because it looked better on the wall and was only 20 bux. We find ourselves using the Wave 6 catalytic heater most of the time because it uses so much less fuel.
