my limit is opening just from the heat of my hand.
anyone know where to get one? are these Klixon? devices all the same?

Fred,
If you can not get the part by number from the manufacturer, then a good bet is Grainger.
Kiixon is a trade mark name. I can't you tell you who made the one you are looking for. But, if you call it a klixon, most people that have any idea at all what it is will know what you are talking about.
The devices are not nearly all the same.
Apart from physical size, mounting and connection there is a real big issue of is it "Close on rise" (a fan switch) or "Open on rise" (a high temperature cutoff switch).
Start at www.grainger.com,
load part nr. 2fbr9 in the search box,
scroll down to catalog page 3826 and select.
Now you have a bunch to choose from, if you don't find what you want, move a page one way or the other.

thanks Matt. is there difference in AC or DC switching? i seem to remember the contacts are different.

It doesn't make any difference . All that matters is that you use a similar Klixon of a temperature rating close to the rating of the one you took off. The temperature should be stamped on the old one. There have been many times that I didn't have the same size Klixon but I had an adapter to mount a similar temp unit that was larger or smaller physically. As was suggested make sure you use a normally open to replace a N.O. or N.C. to replace N.C.

thanks guys. the one i have has no temp. stamped on it. i went to PPL web site and found one there. it's on it's way.

Glad you found the replacement for your limit switch. In case you are not familiar with reading the numbers on the switch a Klixon with a number like S206h L190-4. would mean it is designed to open at 190 deg F. when you get your new switch the number after the L is the temperature and it should be close in temp to the old one.
