The right hand FD seal for the 3.21 is NAPA #13739

This seal is NOT specifically designed for this application, but fits and works, and does not require the use of a pressed a sleeve over the half shaft. I have used it for 4 yrs now with no leak issues.

This information was found at:

http://www.bdub.net/gmcmhparts/

Then click on "Front Axle"

It is the one titled "Final Drive Bearing Seal (Right) (Toro 3:21 Final Drive)"

HTH someone....

Larry,

I bought a 1966 Olds switch pitch trans, final drive, and right side shaft
from Bob Sobrito.

I sent it all to Manny for a rebuild before I shipped them Downunder.

He pressed a ring over the shaft to increase the OD so that the standard
3.07 seal would work.

He also supplied me with two rings to go in the 3.21 drive flanges to center
the inner CV joint covers in the flanges.

Good plan. Allows you to use the original seal that is still available....but...do you have to remove the ring/sleeve on the shaft to get a bad bearing off of the shaft...I don't know. Will the old/new bearing slip over the sleeve? Just wondering.

Larry,

I think the ring would have to be removed to change the bearing, I'll check
the next time I'm down the workshop.

some seals have a lip or flange on the outer surface so you press them in until they seat on that lip. seal is installed. This one does not have that, so it is possible to press it in too far, or seat it at an angle relating to the shaft, so it is an eyball alignment at best. There is no inner stop for this on the FD either. the seal on the other side, has a flange. I can shoot a photo, but it is already installed. I will show a photo of the other one that has the wrong ID which is the same style.

Chris,

No need for the photo; I understand what you mean. As you noted the seal for
the 3.07 is the same, no flange.

When I replaced the seal in the 3.07 currently in The Blue Streak I did it
in situ and it was a bear as the oil pan was in the way. I tapped it in
carefully and tried to get it as square as possible, however, I doubt it is
perfect. As it not on the road I don't know if it will leak or not.

Thanks,

I wouldn't sweat it...it's not *that* critical. Eye balled up should do just fine...provided you are not cross-eyed that is...
