Hello again all, Good Morning. Daughter and I are about to leave for our
college visit trip to Texas from Wisconsin! As I prepared GMC last night and
this am a few issues arose.... First godo news left air bag system is all
ok...
1. Furnace Duro2 I think, blows, pilot sparks but no ignition... wonder why?
no gas? pretty sure there is propane in tank almost for sure but I can
check... air in line? any way or tricks to get it to fire for heat for
tonight's sleep?
2. As I check transmission fluid, I was not easily able to reinsert the dip
stick! I tried and tried... Then the top handle part broke off. I put
electrical tape around ad over the opening. Will that be ok for trip? Then
can I buy a new tranny dip stick at parts store along the way? or I need to
order from group here?
Quesstions:
3. door rubber seals have partially come unattached. what is best glue
method to reglue it? Silicon glue? Silicon with adhesive? or hot glue? and I
need to glue it when warmer areas?
4. I have Firestone Steeltex Radial R4X LT225/75R16 115/112R MS Load Range E
tires. They say 80 psi, I inflated to 70 psi is that ok?
then tow tires were at 30 pounds after long storage and others at 50 or 60
psi, does that mean 2 have slow leak? or keep eye on them two better? and
you all have the rubber screw caps on the valve stems? or you all by a
better metal ones or ones that do not need valve caps?
Thanks for helps and advices folks, I will check as we drive from iPhone or
if we stop and there is WIFI I can check with MacBook. Say your prayers for

Mike,
On your question of your propane furnace. .... Did you open the valve at the tank that goes to furnace? To check, try to light one of the gas burners on your stove top. If it lights thenn you know the valve is open, if not go open the valve. But if you haven't had the furnace checked out, I would not rely on it and pick up a 1500 watt electric heater at a BIG BOX store or local hardware store and stop at campgrounds at night that have electric to hook up to.
On your transmission dip stick, realize that the stick has to go around a curve in the tube, so you may have to feel around by turning the stick about 45 degrees.
Tires: While sitting they can loose air and it is normal to lose tire pressure as temperatures drop. 80 psi is the max. pressure. Running them at 65 to 70 psi usually is ok. The big question is how old are they. As they approach 6-7 years they will be aging out & dry rot. Replace them.

Good morning Mike: good news on the bag...
1, maybe the gas is turned off? When you turn it on make sure and open the valve all the way as it has a back seat to keep it from leaking thru the stem.
2, The transmission dipstick should be same year Toronado, There is an aftermarket available than can be checked from up front.
3, Door rubber - most use black 3-M weather strip adhesive. also known as Gorilla snot.
4, It really depends on the weight of your coach as to recommended air pressure. I have a 23' and run 60 in the front and 55 in the rears. 70 will be a little stiff, but should be safe.

There may be another gas valve located just before the furnace. My 78 Eleganza has one. But I agree with the previous comment that you should not use the furnace until you have time to check it out further. Once you get a just a day's drive south, the campgrounds will be open. That will give you power to run an electric heater. Good luck and keep us posted.

It may take several attempts to light the furnace if there is air in the line. You may have to try it 5 or 6 times.
If you can't get a dipstick in time, I would cover the hole as you have done and drive it. Unless there's a leak, it's unlikely that the level will be low depending on when you last checked it. If you haven't checked it within the last few months, that may be a different story. I don't think I've added any in the almost 20 years I've had it.
As far as the door seals, places like Autozone or Checker carry weatherstrip glue/cement.
Without knowing the weight of your coach, you can't truly know what the best tire pressure is, but 70 psi will surely be a safe guess for now.

Gorilla snot = 3M super adhesive
It might take a while to get all the air out of the gas line. Keep
trying until your're sure. Next cheapest fix is the thermocouple.
The tape will work as a temp fix. Jim K probably has dozens of OEM dip sticks.
70 lbs should be fine. Just check them at least once a day on the trip.

No one mentioned it here and not trying to be alarmist, but I would be somewhat concerned about tires the had 30 psi and weight on them. There is a failure mode in tires that have had low pressure called "zippering". As HAS been said if the tires are getting old(subjective) they may need replacing any how.

I may be wrong, but aren't zipper failures more associated with steel sidewalls?
