If I should ever get far enough along on our 73 Painted Desert, 23ft, this may be our next project. I believe the first owner remodeled some of it early in it's life -- the material appears to be original to the Coachmen. It may have had the kitchen just behind the driver. The new layout with opposing couches makes a very nice conversation area -- and the coach seems quite large. It is in quite nice condition -- but needs some mechanical work -- but when we get to this one we may go beyond refreshing.
I bought it a while back but Cynthia only just had the opportunity to see it last week and likes the floorplan.
Anyway, just wanted to share photos.

Dennis,

Nice looking GMC; definitely won't need as much work as the '23.

I've never seen the vertical bumper guards before, they appear to be OEM.

Dennis,

A nice looking coach, the floor plan is interesting. Would be interested if you find out more details on the source of the changes.

Here is what I see: The upholstery looks similar but not the same as original Coachmen for 1976. Looks like the left side small window should end up in the side bath? Is there a double bed in the rear?

Good luck with it,

When I first looked at the pictures, I thought, "Center Kitchen Royale with the dinette swapped to a couch." Then another thread asked about the bumpers I looked again... the exterior pictures look like a Rear Bath Royale. Confused

There has been "a few" changes... Do you have a picture window in the bathroom? Shocked

What ever it was, it is a nice looking coach. Interesting location for the microwave.

Thanks for sharing.

Bill,
Yes, the left rear side window is in the bath and there is a doulbe bed in the rear. The bed has a headboard with a fold down front. There is also a night-stand where the transfer switch is located. I assumed the kitchen might have been moved since I think the lights over the left hand sofa are the original kitchen lights. The modifications were done by the original owner -- the second owner did not remember any details.

Thanks,
Dennis

Mike,
Thanks, I have not spent a lot of time with the coach ( stored some distance away ) so have not determined all the changes. The mods were well executed. The bed hinges to the back and there is a storage hole underneath. And there is a basment storage since there is no propane tank in the conventional location. The basement goes all the way across to the generator compartment.

Dennis,

Whenever you do get down to this coach could you take some close-ups of the
bumpers and the bumper overriders.

Since Bill Bryant has noted that they were after market maybe we can figure
out where they came from.

Dan,
Looks like you only a couple of days out. Are you going to swing by
or are you headed for Safford?
