Recently I'm having a problem on the Forum identifying unread messages. Sometimes the new ones have the "red flag" or whatever you call it, and sometimes non are flagged even though I haven't read them. This seems to happen on both my home and my office computer. Anyone else have this issue or any suggestions? Maybe I'm reading these in my sleep and forgetting about it in the morning Smile

I notice that on occasion also then noted that when I sign in flags seemed to reappear. So it appears if the forum doesn't recognize you no flags, however when it does recognize you it gives you the flags.

you will have to hit refresh on the forum after signing in

Hi Bob.. I also sometimes have new unread messages even tho the opening page says I don`t. I just figgured I was caught in the middle of an update? When I have no flags on any messages it usually means my cookie has expired and I have to log in again.

Bob: I have had it happen, but not often or lately. No idea why. Sometimes if it has two pages of replies, and you have not looked at the first page and only go to the second page, it will not identify that you have viewed anything on the thread. But even that is not an always thing. So, really don't know either.

G'day,

I am an email user and have a Forum login and password.

I find that sometimes I don't get copies of the emails I reply to but when I
go to:

GMCnet
Mirror of the GMCnet mailing list.

http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=1&rid=0

and locate the message they are there.

Can anybody explain that one to me?

Thanks,
Rob Mueller

Does my posted replys from the forumn site get displayed to the email users? I am thinking they don't but I shouldn't be thinking. Laughing

If you haven't signed up for the ORIGINAL GMC net (the email version) the answer is they do not. If you want to use the web forum while reaching all the email'ers, it would be best to sign up (same name as the web forum) and then turn off the emails.

No need. Larry's message is making it to email users just fine.

I seem to recall that Patrick and Eugene have set things up so that
each system will automatically sign up the other. I know that email
users are automatically signed up to the forum, but I'm not sure that
the reverse is true. But if Larry didn't sign up for the email system,
then we have the answer.

I am signed up for email so that may make the difference. I had read on the forum a couple of times that the emailers didn't see an email so I thought I should be sending msgs. from my email account but it is soooo much easier for me to use the forum, I have trouble keeping all threads read when I use the digest.

Yes, it does. It insures that all emailer will see your messages, even
when you post on the forum. If that's your preference, go for it. I
believe you can put your email in "vacation" mode and you will not
receive emails from the list if you don't want them, and you can do
all your GMCnet activity on the forum.

Whenever a new user posts on the Forum, Patrick and I receive a notice that
someone is attempting to post without being a member of the email list. One of
us will then go in and add this address and mark it as "no mail" so that he does
not get mail from the list.

It's a manual solution that only takes a few seconds for each new member.
