Hi,
Went up to LA yesterday to pick up some striping paint at Moon Speed Equipment. What a blast from the past. I mentioned to the young counter girl that I hade never been here before so one of the guys gave me a quick tour of the shop. I'm not a hot rodder by nature but my goodness, the stuff these guys had in their machine shop and warehouse is amazing. They actually spin the aluminum Moon hub caps right there. Just a Hot Rod Heaven. A couple of the guys even have the requisite "duck tail" 50's haircut. Surprisingly a huge market for their vintage stuff is Japan?
Well worth the detour if you are in LA. On the corner of Florence and Norwalk about a mile north of the I-5 on Norwalk Blvd.
Thanks
Gary and Joanne Worobec

Still in the same place with mostly the same products. A friend of mine used to date Dean's youngest daughter so we spent a lot of time drooling over the parts. Little wierd going to his house everything was Moon Yellow and he had a restored old time popcorn maching in the living room - still worked and yes Moon Yellow. I don't think it's so much a Japanese company as much as one Japanese guy that was in love with the 50's & 60's nostalgia who owns it now. He's done a great job with the company. The Mooneye's Christmas Hot Rod show has gotten so big they now hold it at Irwindale Speedway.
PS as an interesting side note Dean Moon sold Firestone Race tires and Shelby rented space there and sold GoodYear race tires from the same place. It's also where Shelby built the first Cobra by installing a 260 Ford engine into a AC chassis he bought from England.
