$1.98 for 1. (shipping)
BUT... any extra are .99 each. (up to 10 total.)
I have never been that impressed with this type of bulb. Compared to the ones I tried, the normal bulbs look brighter. The normal bulbs use the reflectors in the housings... these LED's do not. But they did "work."

don't want RED
gene

Please explain...
I read that you don't want to mix colors with the lenses. This is because of the color differences and the lens will negate any brightness the led can produce.
in the case of white led, the blue hue will diminish and dull the performance. They said red led for red lense....
NOT SO???

Robert Mueller wrote on Thu, 03 December 2009 15:20 | G'day,
There are only 7 LED's in the 1156's pictured; do an eBay search for 1156
(or 1157) and you'll find them with up to 63 LED's!
Obviously the more LED's the higher the cost.

Good day Rob: Maybe not, some of the newer LEDs I have been seeing on big trucks have less # of LEDs but are bigger and put out way more light?? I found a LED flashlight in the road last week, it was small, about 3" long with one LED. It is much brighter than the same size one I have with 21 LEDs?? I showed it to Wally and He seems to think a law officer probably lost it and thinks it cost about $100??

Chuck,
Good info, it looks like one should ask how many lumens the LED bulbs
produce before you buy them!!!

How did you deal with the difference in the elements for the brake and tail light functions?
|
I`m trying to understand the ?. The truck 4" LED has brake and tail lite function. There is a pigtail that goes with the lite. I soldered the pigtail ground to the 1157 housing, brake and tail lite wires to each contact. Very simple.

I also have all LED clearance lights and they indeed are brighter than
what they replaced. Less hassle too. when it comes to tail and turn
lights, LEDs substitutes still fall short and create a different set
of problems with flasher operation and raise havoc in some computer
controlled autos. Certain Honda Civics (2002?) had halogen type
taillight bulbs and I put them in the GMC behind the late model lenses
and they are brighter and have no effect on the flasher performance.

WD0AFQ wrote on Wed, 16 December 2009 12:54 | I am with you Steve. I love the clearance lights but am still waiting for the tail lights. I do like Gene Dotson's way of installing tail lights though. I also have them in the side marker lights and they look pretty neat. They are little clusters of 5. I will have to monkey with my electronic cruise when I add tail lights. Inside the coach we are fixed up real nice for Quartzsite this winter. Hope to see John's new stuff out there. Was not much there last year that I would spend my money on, and over priced.

Dan,
When I installed the 4 inch LED tail lights with the pig tails, I just hooked the wires up to the tail lights, direction signals and brake lights and they all have worked for the last 5 years.

Gene, do you have the Rostra cruise? The book tells how to rewire it for the led lights. Emery also explained it to me. I just hate to mess with it because it works so well as is. It worked the first time I tired it, after I installed it 5 years ago. I don't want to monkey with a working cruise, if that make sense. This was discussed last month but I don't recall whether you have the Rostra or not.
Your's look really nice and I have wanted to do mine since the first time you showed them to me in Evansville. Did not help that you parked right in front of me at Pueblo.

Dan,
I do have the Rostra cruise. I had trouble with it cutting off my first trip but found I had it tied into the wrong switch on the brake. Every time I used the turn signals it cut off. Has worked well ever since. That's the only problem I have had with it.
