Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!
After the installation of my new cabinets, I screwed up somewhere and lost an inch or two. As a result, my new couch :

Does not fit on the drivers side any longer. I test fit it with the old OEM kitchen, and had about an inch to spare. The 60" wide cabinet ate that up. 
I can either take the cabinets out, shave that quarter inch off each front (there is some overhang) and gain back that inch, then the couch will fit, or I can sell the damn thing and buy the one in the conversion van I saw that may fit.
It's a tough call. I can easily take out the counter and sink (nothing is finished underneath yet, but that is a bit of a gamble and a days lost work.
I have about 250 in materials and $300 in the labor to completely redo the couch, foam and all and here I am.
If anyone is interested in the couch, I will consider an offer. It very closely matches the tan honda seats, and the pattern is stitched in it to closely match them. If I get a reasonable offer by the end of the week, I'll sell it, otherwise I'll swap sides, live with it, and do something else with the new furnace, that would have fit nicely under this thing.

Well, If I only had another foot, two would be best, I coulda done my extended cockpit floor and put four seats and a table up there...

Chris: Sleep on it a day or so, but from what you said, sounds like the custom redone couch is nice and it would be better to modify the cabinet than start over on the couch. The money, the new furnace etc, weighed against the counter and cabinets... change the cabinets.

Chris,
Are you saying you'll have to take 1/4" off of each divider in the cabinet
face frame to regain the lost inch? Even that sounds like a better option
than giving up the couch. By the time you sell the couch, buy the
replacement, have it upholstered, make any other accommodation it may
require, etc., you'll invest more time than you'll spend redoing the
cabinetry, at which you're obviously very skilled. The photo I looked at
shows the counter top without the end cap, so perhaps even cutting that down
won't be much of a problem.

initiation fee nor the dues are free, but at least you don't have to send
them in.

Consider taking the couch back to the upholsterer and have them
shorten it. If it is just the seat that doesn't fit, that would be an
easy fix as. If the seat and seat back both don't fit, it is still an
easy fix for an upholsterer. Nice cabinet work. I wouldn't touch it,
I'd go for the couch first and keep on with my interior plan. At
least get an estimate.

Hey Chri$, Getting ready to order 2 cabinets and dealing with bunk/couch and don't want to have same thing happen. Any idea where you lost the inch? My oem cabs are long gone but I measured and got 60" IIRC.
(Went to an out of town IKEA over weekend to cash and carry 2 cabs. Never got cabs. They had to have $230 home delivery for 2 cabinets to complete sale and pull the pieces and parts together. I couldn't pick up order anytime in either Orlando or Tampa. Kinda like crossing the Himalayas in a prison bus. First and last trip to that yuppie maze from hell.)

Sounds like you pulled a "RAY" Chris.
Bite the bullet, modify the cabinet, do it right.....you won't regret it.
I'm STILL modifying my sofa mount for my convert-a-bed.....need to get the whole sofa closer to the wall....this will be the 4th complete removal and mod......I know it's frustrating, but in the end it will be right and the way I want it.
Like they say....this is all part of "growing up"....LOL

The frame is 72" and the puffyness of the foam makes it about 74. The legs are just spot welded and screwed, they can be removed. I may acutally build a box to mount it on if I keep it.
The upholsterer will mod the fabric, etc for free or little cost, but I still have to take 1/2 inch out of each end of the frame, which I may be able to do. It's a lot of work either way.
I wanted the couch on the driver side so I can potentially put a furnace under it to keep the space under the sink clear for stuff. I also wanted the seats and the table on the curb side so I can sit and look out the window when I am at some events, it also just seems better that way. The seat bases are pop-outs, so I could pop them out and place other things there if I don't need the seats, but the space for a particular trip.

bear in mind that if you shorten the sofa, you will be limiting the height of the person trying to sleep there. 72" length would be fine for someone up to 5'-8", think of the use of a pillow for that person.
As a side comment, I noticed how you were mounting your bases to the Odyssey seat. In looking at your pics, Your base is offset in respect to the seat. I would suggest a dry fit of the unit, start with establishing a centerline drawn on the floor from the center of the steering column. Then if you open the engine hatch, you will see a piece of structure that secures the seat belts, you should use this to anchor the rear of your seat base, not just the plywood floor.
Using these two lines, set the seat unit with the base on those lines. Now, does the seat placement interfere with the opening of the hatch?? how close is the seat to the side wall???
If you move the base back to mount on the structural point, can the for/aft allow for a comfortable driving position?? Carefully try sitting in the unattached seat. I would dry mount the passenger seat as well, basically for hatch clearance and side clearance.
Where these seat positions are will affect your sofa position as well.
Having said all that, I still could be interested in buying the sofa unit from you. When you decide, let me know, and we can talk.

The offset mounting was just temporary as a height check. I plan to center them on the bases with steel plates. these bases are for seats in the rear. I am using the stock seat swivels for the driver and passenger seat in the cockpit. The hatch clears just fine. I posted a pic a few months back showing that.
The sofa frame is actually 74.5" wide, I think that is where I screwed up. A 72" will fit fine. I have exactly 74" between the cabinet side and the top step side. If I take out the 1/2 inch between the two cabinets, and grind the edge of the sofa, that will work I can live with that and only have to remove one cabinet to do the work. I will make that decision thursday afternoon, after I have had a chance to look at the alternative couch (from the same van my seat bases came out of) and it's cost.

He was wintering over in an RV park in Casa Grande. As I understand,
he is a work camper and works his shift as a senior citizen crossing
guard. I could have that wrong though.
