I realize it is still November 2009 but the January 2010 Consumer Reports is out. They have rated the four major carriers and Verizon won hands down in every US market sampled. ATT moved to the bottom of the list in 20 of the 26 major markets sampled. The other two players were Sprint and T-mobile.

If you are buying a new wireless phone or data service you might want to look at this article. If you are not a subscriber, Consumer Reports is available in most libraries.

Surprised Ken I live in a place no phone and no net. ATT told mr I could get wireless net. I tried that and it was sorry I took it back. Went to Varison same deal and price BUT it works I like it. They have several more towers and no problems. jack

That is a problem when you do not live near a city or an Interstate highway. In those cases you use whatever vendor will work for you and ignore the ratings.
