Hi All..
I was able to get the last PowerMaster adapter he had..
I have decided to go that way to help with my shitty brakes.. I am also going to replace my brake lines.. If I get a few warm days in a row..
I have a Brake Pressure Gage on it's way and will take those readings before any work is started..
But, I am looking for a PowerMaster.. Anyone out there have one?
Thanks in advance
Ron

What was the bit about soldering a switch closed, or something? This is a mod I might tackle next year.

Hi

I had a Powermaster installed on my coach and although it stopped OK chasing parts for something obsolete drove me crazy. I ended up buying a complete Vacumm system for JimB new Delco booster and master cyl. Now I have brakes that work and I can get parts for. If you still want to go with the PowerMaster these are the only people that stock all the parts.

I have my old Marvin Peck adapter and used PowerMaster if you are interested

I'm reading all this about obsolete Powermaster stuff and I'm wondering... I have a 2005 Chevy Avalanche that has a "Powermaster - like" brake system. It runs off the power steering pump and works great.

I also read that the guy that made the GMC adapter for the Powermaster past away. Perhaps we need to just "upgrade" to the new systems where parts are available etc. If the bracket/mount and the like need to be recreated it doesn't seem to make much sense to do it for obsolete stuff.

After drive the GMC last weekend for the first time in two year I was painfully reminded at how bad the brakes really are.

Jeff..
Yes, you have what is called a Hydro Boost. They would be or are a worthwhile addition to the coach as well.. I don't know about your particular unit but space is particularyu tight on our coaches.. I am not sure yours would fit!
The Powermaster does!

Jeff,
This has been done by several as a newer brake system upgrade. I
think that Bob Drewes has done this also.

Gentlemen,
The Powermaster master cylinder *IS* now available through most of your major parts houses....including Autozone, O'reilly's, NAPA, Autopart Giant, and Rockauto. Part # is 52-9700. It is being remanufactured by Cardone for these suppliers.

See this:
Autozone

O'Reilly's

NAPA

AutoParts Giant

Rock Auto

Look up 1986 Buick Electra Estate Wagon with 307 engine , then in "part search" type in 52-9700

Hi Larry

I went thru all of these guys a couple of years ago looking for a rebuilt unit and got the standard on B/O no longer available and your order has been cancelled the only place that had stock and could give a delivery date was Kirban Performance. I also had JimB chase this for a coup[le of months with no success. This is just my experience YMMV, but with JimB's vacuum booster designed for the weight of our coach my brake are now better than they have ever been.

The problem was a specific piece of the hardware no longer being
available. It now is and those are in stock units FWIK.

Your are right...they were not available "a couple of years ago" but they are now.

Glad to hear though...that your experience with the vacuum booster works for you. I'm all for *anything* that gives us good braking....that's the real goal here.
