good evening, all;

on my travels today i found 4 good alcoa classic wheels that would fit my coach.

two questions:

1. anyone got a line on 2 or three more used ones?

2. Barring that, would the Eagle 058 make a passable clone that might pass if i put them on the front or opposite side of the coach?

Check the dates for the recall. You might get 4 free ones to replace those.
Recall info is on bdubs site.

Thanks

Scott,

1. Don't have a clue.

2. Here's a link to Jim K's website with pictures of the Eagles:

http://www.appliedgmc.com/level.itml/icOid/489

It's your call if they are "passable clones."

3 Alcoas on one side the 4th on the spare. 3 Eagles on the other side. I
sure wouldn't be able to remember the difference by the time I walked all
the way from one side to the other. :-)

You can tell the difference. I would do like Ken mentioned. No one but you would ever know.

You'd need a magnifying glass and a good memory to tell the difference
by looking.

But the Eagles will use different lug nuts, and those look more
different from the Alcoa nuts than do the wheels. The Eagles use
mag-wheel-style sleeve nuts, while the Alcoas used flat nuts with a
captive washer, so finding a set that matched would be a challenge.

But if they were on different sides, nobody would know, especially if
you put chrome covers on the Alcoa nuts and found center caps that
were the same all the way around.

Rick "get the hub-centered Eagles from Jim K. if you want to use
center caps designed for the Alcoas" Denney

Are they the correct hub size?

Scott,
I am surprised that you have found 4 Alcoa wheels in one location for the
GMC being that they use the fronts of duelly set up being part no 160231
(found on the inside of the rim opposite the valve. You could keep your eye
out on ebay for a full set of these wheels for a dually they have 160232 on
the rear which is the same as the 160231 except they are reversed and the
inside is polished. That being said you would then have the four that you
are going to purchase now, then the two fronts from the next purchase, one
of the 160232's would be the spare (you could always get the other side
polished making it 160231) and sell the remaining 160232 to some one who has
only 6 alcoas and has a 16.5 spare. This is how I would go if you are at
saving expense, run the 4 Alcoas on the back run 2 16.5 originals on the
front and an original spare and do as I suggest and keep your eye out for
the remaining Alcoas that you need. I see them advertised often as I need
some for my spare GMC but I have a distance problem and some Americans don't
seem that helpfull when it comes to needing them shipped for export.

Speaking of Alcoa wheels, I could use 4 if there are any in the Denver area. I've got two in the front with good tires, but the rear has steel wheels with marginal tires. Might be time to upgrade to the Alcoa's.

Gary et al,

IIRC Jim B mentioned in his Daily Pose that Alcoa is going to cease
production of these wheels so if you need some you might want to check into
that.

Sorry everyone, Someone bought the coach for the frame late last week. It also was headed here to Jacksonville. They won't give me their info but will pass my name on to them. I wanted a whole bunch of stuff off of it.

I might have to get out the Black List and start calling all the locals to see if they know anything.

You are a looooong way away. I have two near new Alcoas with two near
new BFG Commercial T/As mounted and balanced on them. Shipping would
be prohibitive Scott.
There are a few Canadian snow birds our here in our local GMC club.
