G’day,
A recent email brought up the size of the Caddy 500 vs the Olds 455 and it
got to wondering what were the differences in size and weight. I found the
following info and it’s quite interesting.
http://www.carnut.com/specs/engdim.html
The Caddy is bigger and heavier than the Olds but it’s lighter and smaller
than some others! Especially the Allison and Merlin! ;-)

Other than 45 extra cubes, what's the big deal with the Caddy engine?

Larry,
I don't mean to be a smart ass but I would suggest you do a bit of web
surfing and you'll find a lot of info.
I did and that's why there's a Caddy 500 sitting in Houston, Texas waiting
to get assembled and shipped to Australia for The Blue Streak.
For example the block and heads had a very high nickel content which made
the block very hard and strong.

Something doesn't seem right...
It says the Olds 455 is only .5 inches wider than the Olds 350 ???? Isn't the 350 and 403 the same size? I am "SURE" my 403 is more than 2 inches narrower than my 455... I have to get my tape measure out to see...
It also doesn't say anything about the low rise variations used in FWD Caddies, Olds and Buicks. I ASSUME they are talking RWD set-ups.
