My coach manual IIRC and read it correctly, infers that you have to pull the flywheel to R&R the starter.
Mine doesnt engage at times and I assume that I need to either lube/etc the starters engaging mechanism or another starter.
Comments???

I hope somebody who knows the Onan chimes in here, cause my starter 'free-wheels' sometimes too. Could it be the rear bracket has broken?

Maybe a trip to Ragusa is in order for their cast iron starter motor bracket. Part number RV-04.

If your Onan starter bracket is broken (mine was in two pieces), it will allow the starter to drop out of position for proper engagement. The Ragusa replacement will solve that problem.
Another thing to check, put your finger in the "hole" in the front of the Onan (With the Onan off). IF you cannot feel the nut on the end of the crankshaft, your motor mounts have failed. New motor mounts are available.
Always fun with Mr. Onan.
