Between ebay and craigslist there are a half dozen GMC's on the east coast for $5K or less. One on ebay in NJ for $1500
I don't believe any are being effectively marketed. The $1500 unit appears viable, the seller has phenomenal feedback. But at that price it's in danger of going for parts.
If someone is interested and lacks my search skills I'll be happy to forward or post details.
This economy could force more GMC's into the landfill, or it could get somebody into one who was previously priced out.
