Hi All..
As those of us who were at the Pueblo Rally know.. And probably the rest of the GMC community knows as well.. Jim K's Coach went down on the way to the Rally.. (At least that was his story).. I have been waiting since that rally to hear what happened to it.. At first he thought the motor went out.. But the last day of so of the event he suspected maybe the Tranny.. Anyone know the real skinny?
Jim!!! Waiting..

He mentioned that he'd lunched the engine in a message a day or two
back. He didn't say how, though he did admit it was his fault. So, you
are asking for a public confession!

Well, they are picking it up tomorrow(Thursday, Oct 22) in Las Vegas, New Mexico and will be towing it to Fremont, California so we will know then. Jim says he thinks the engine blew-reason unknown until the tear down.
I am at his shop in Fremont. Ever since I have had this GMC, it will not stay put in "Park", i.e. it rolls. Today, they found out why. The pawn that has something to do with the park position in the tranny is broken in half.
Tomorrow, Manny is supposed to come over and replace it with a part Alonzo took from another trans today. BTW, all this talk about how lousy the park brake is, BS. Mine has worked faithfully since day one. Yeah, we adjust it now and then but it works with original cables, and I do my best to keep the brakes adjusted and working properly.
Jim has as many GMCs here as I do in Houston. He has core engines and soap box derby cars in the shop????? There are beautiful exhaust pieces lying around and a neat lift from which he can do six wheel alignments. There appear to be three guys devoted to GMC M/H work and two dedicated to the Applied Air Filter side of the house. He has a room full of goodies but is out of stock on some things. He has a pile of exhaust manifolds-good or not-I don't know, but I am out as of Pueblo.
Today, they were replacing the pins in the rear bogies of a customer GMC. Oh, and 4 air bag systems complete and in production-also the standard air bags, new in a big box. I am tempted to buy another one myself. I have one bag I installed new about 4 years ago and the other was on when I got the coach and the trailer I took to Pueblo is really bogging down the rear. I do carry one new old stock air bag and I have bought an equalizer hitch to put on the trailer which is now in Gallup, NM and we will pick it up on the way back to Houston near the end of October...............Thx, Michael at GEMRECS

Michael,
We're all waiting with bated breath to find out the next episode of the KOT
KADDY! ;-)
I think the comments regarding "lousy" parking brakes had to do with disk
brake calipers with mechanically actuated parking brakes.

Rick,
You staying at the Burj Al Arab?
I have a mate that's passing through Dubai on his way back to Australia in a
couple of weeks;, I suggested he stay there as the hotel has a special on at
the moment $1,715 per night. Outrageous but then again they do include a
full breakfast! ;-)

That coach that's getting new bogie pins has an Interesting history.
It's a '73 still run by the original owner! He has 2 friends (I
think) who are also original owners.
The California air keeps them going!
(and Jim K too)
