Some years ago I saw a photo log of a clever driving light installation. The fellow cut holes in the bumpers, front and back, and secured the driving lights in some muffler pipe, welded to the bumpers, frame, or something.

I'd like to do this, but my searching skills won't bring it up the pictures. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and could you please point the way to the pictures?

It may have been the same thread that discussed the installation of "mooring lights" to the side of the coach - used when pulling in to an RV park.

I'm in the dark!

When I drilled the 3" hole with the hole saw I did it from the back. That way there was no problem going through the chrome bumper.

I'm going to cheat - my buddy has a precision machine shop and offered to cut it with his plasma torch. His comment was - "like butter..."

Larry,

The plasma torch may turn the chrome blue like motorcycle pipes.

Where would you find headlights like that? This is such a clean set-up.

It looks like the bulbs are replaceable. I imagine they are halogen, or something more modern than our old sealed beam burners.

Very cool - and I wouldn't have to cut the bumpers, turn them blue, or anything.

Very close to this idea:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=31207

They moved the stock blinkers into the grille and put drivers in the stock blinker location. You could put the blinkers several other locations. Grille, mirrors, "city light" or yes, even a hole in the bumper.

This shot is my Buddy Russ's coach, The same set up as I used but with grill mounted signal lights.
We found all the lights on Ebay it cleaned up the front and greatly improved night lighting with replacable Halogens.

Check his out

I see two sellers on ebay who sell the 7" "H4" lamps with "City
Lights". I think this is what you had.

This might just do the trick...

They did help the night vision. Their beam isn't as broad as the lights they replaced but extend farther. I seldom drive at night so my need for them is limited.

They're low wattage lights, ~5W usually inside the headlights, on European
cars. They use them pretty much as we use park lights; driving at dusk
or in cities(hence the name) where full headlights aren't really useful
and may blind oncoming drivers.
