Fast Fred on the Bus Nuts Board posted this interesting article

The current issue of Home Power Magazine(free on line) has an excellent
article on standalone inverters.

All sizes , most common makes and a good list of what will and not work on
"modified sine wave" inverters and who should upgrade to real sine wave
units.

A great basic primer BEFORE you buy.

Battery charger info is included.

Hi Wayne -

I agree that the True Sine is the way to go if you are running sensitive
electronic gear. Most electronic devices these days have a "brick" type
transformer that is very tolerant to the waveform you put in to get DC out for
the device. Things like Microwaves, Keurig Coffee Makers, and LCD TV's might
not like the modified square wave so much. I found a very reasonable
compromise, an 1800 Watt, True Sine Inverter by Xantrex. The price was very
reasonable at the link below which puts it in close competition with the MSW
units of the same size. Check it out.
