Although I understand the intended application, I doubt it makes ANY net difference because whatever gasses that are expelled from the tailpipe will disperse and migrate both up and down, dependent upon the specific gravity of the elements, size of the particulates and density of dispersion (with overall density of particulates assumed to be the most unpleasant of attributes), whether it exits at ground level or +96".
The real answer to such a problem is dilution of the exhaust with untainted air - something the latest GM trucks do at speed using a venturi exhaust tip and dating back to the late '60s it was done with the addition of an engine belt-driven air pump, whose parasitic power loss exceeded any advantage gained by dispersing the particulates
Ultimately the Gen-Turi could succeed if an air source were added, but ultimately, the amount of particulates dispersed will be exactly the same regardless, albeit across a larger area. Thus, if everyone uses them, what benefit could be claimed?
Perhaps the easiest and most economical approach would be to simply park farther apart, since it sounds as if you are boondocking [dry] camping because you are using the gensets instead of hooking up.
I hope you end up happy nevertheless and that I contributed in some way.

When you have no choice but to be close to your neighbors, they make a huge difference in noise levels. I don't know why.
A friend had a muffler shop make up just a 90 degree elbow then flare into a 8' 2" exhaust pipe. Cost him 80 bucks a few months ago. Didn't bother inducing extra air into a larger diameter. He loves it. Thinking of making more to lend to his neighbors at NASCAR events.
Really simple to make. But I wouldn't use plastic, they really get hot.

I have one in Pensacola, FL. It is nearly new. I think $70 would be a fair price. 850-968-4637. John
