Today we had an excellent seminar on refrigerators by a young Amish guy. He runs National RV Refrigeration in Shipshewana, In. There is pretty much no reason to buy a new refer unless you just want one. This guy can fix them. Also, he sells 2 ways, new, for a very good price. He calls them scratch and dents with no scratches or dents. He bought them from closing rv companies. If you need work, or want a new one, send me or any of the other Eastern State folks an email for the information. I would think the two Jims might want to hook up with him also.

Gene,

An Amish with a website?

Now that'd be funny if he actually had one!

Yea Rob, I have to admit black and silver will look better following the coach. I normally go with Teri's suggestions.
Seems to make for a happier life. Very Happy

Ken I seriously doubt that. I've known Leon over a year now, and every time I have called him he answers the phone himself. The Amish in the Shipshewana area are fairly progressive, especially if they run a business.

Leon gave us a demonstration of how he tears apart a coach refer as he had one with him. After the tear down he opened us up for questions. I told him about my 2 year old Norcold freezing our eggs solid on the lowest setting. Have to try and remember to turn the dang thing off thoughout the day. He reached into the refer he had just torn apart and gave me the part that clips onto the fins inside. Told me to try that. I came back to the coach and replaced mine with the one he gave me. Fixed my problem. He convinced me that when he finishes rebuilding the "guts" of a refer that it is better than a brand new one. I am really thankful that Erv and Doc got him to come give us the seminar.

Dan,

I don't think anyone would believe how great a job the young man did. He did
attend a public school in the 8th grade, which is where he learned to speak
English. He was extremely knowledgeable, was very comfortable in front of
the crowd, and held our attention much better than most -- including after
the presentation when folks were standing three deep to talk with him.

I now know more about an RV refrigerator than I thought I needed to know.

See what you would have missed if you had not been there, Dan? Hey, you did
miss a good movie.

You are right Byron. I wish more GMCers could have attended the seminar put on by Leon. He can save us a lot of money if we remember to call him when we need help. He certainly saved me some money yesterday when he gave me the part that fixed our frige.
I was tired last night and watching the Nascar race. Pulling out of the lonely campground early in the morning.

So, what do you think, Dan, is cooling unit replacement a reasonable task
for the average GMCer to tackle? I suggested to Jim during the planning
that a demonstration like that would be more suitable than just a
description of how they rebuild the unit itself. I'm hoping for enough
feedback to tell me whether I should scrap the perfect Dometic 2652 I've got
that burned out its cooling unit.
