WOW !
Kay and I have taken the wrong direction for site seeing.
We are in Cheyenne Wyoming and all roads in and out are closed and
there is white stuff everywhere.
Have to just wait it out and hopefully the weather will go
elsewhere, while it is new to us and interesting it is also a nuisance
to our travelling.

Peter,
Be careful once you do get back on the roads, it's pretty easy to wind up
going sideways on snow / ice covered roads!
Been there, done that!

These weather should last for a day or two .
You should travel to lower altitude.

Depending on the system, it can be 2 days before anything opens up, and
once it does, be very careful, all the other people stranded, ESPECIALLY the
trucks, will be like stampeding animals out of there, let them clear out
before try to go, you will see a LOT of them in the ditch and or crunched when
DO get on road.
I have spent many a winter days in Cheyenne/Laramie waiting for it to
clear, if you are able to, fuel up, especially propane, as the snow will
eventually clog the approach to the tanks where sold. and gas can get scarce if
lasts more then a few days where no tankers can get in to stations, and you
might be running generator/furnace a lot if not hooked up.

Hi Peter,
I see that they closed both I-80 and I-25 around Cheyenne.
I just looked at the Cheyenne 10 day forecast. It will be better in a few days with the snow gone.
Sunday high 42
Monday high 40
Tuesday high 49
Wednesday high 56
Thursday high 53
Friday 49
Saturday 51
Sunday 59
All of the night time lows are forecast below freezing.
I spent 4 days snowed in one winter at a rest area in Montana. No motorhome, I was just sleeping in my SUV and staying in the heated building of the rest area the rest of the time. This way I did not have to use all of my gasoline to keep my SUV warm. After 4 days they finally came through an plowed us out.
Enjoy your vacation.

Sorry to hear you are not able to keep moving, Peter and Kay. Bob and I had
to stop near Amarillo, TX this evening about 6:00 p.m. because the
temperature was down to 30 degrees with misty rain. We just didn't want to
get caught on icy roads. Be careful. Take it slow and easy.
We enjoyed visiting with both of you at Pueblo.

Very, very good advice. As a northerner, I've been driving in snow
and ice for over forty years, and witness plenty of fender benders
every winter as well as being involved in a few. Ice is especially
treacherous for anyone that hasn't experienced it. I was trailering
some construction equipment to Florida a few years ago and some
unusual inclement weather came in. The roads iced up and I stopped
for the day. Back on the road the next morning, I couldn't believe
the amount of vehicles off I 95 to the left, the right, the opposite
direction, SUVs, tractor trailers, all manner of cars and trucks.
Although I have many years of hard earned ;-( experience driving on
ice, in many types of vehicles, as well as commercial snow handling
for the last twenty years, I have no desire to try the GMC in ice (or
snow)...

We tried Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado in light snow. Got somewhere near
the top (we think) when we couldn't go no more, nohow. Only about 3/8" or
less on the road, but the grade and the slippery white stuff said, "you
gotta be kidding!" and the coach didn't move anymore, just stayed in one
spot with one front wheel slowly spinning. Fortunately, there was no one
behind us, and we backed down to a wider spot and turned around, and
drove the hundred twenty some miles back downhill to a dry road headed in
the direction of our second choice destination.
