Re "jack stands per pair rating" Some jack stands say "always use in pairs" (in Canada where we change to snow tires and back, if being done in your drive way most do one wheel at a time. Some much for using in pairs. I think it's a misleading way to rate them, If you use a pair under the same corner to observe the rating, if one fails the other is overloaded.
There have been LOTS of reports on failures of cheap jack stands. BE CAREFULL !!

When jackstands discussions come up I like to post the instructions on how to make your own 12 ton ones. That is at least 12 tons for ONE jackstand.

That's a good deal, and the spec does say 12,000 # total capacity.
