Cleaning out my garage. Wife's orders. For some reason I have two Fram PH 13 filters that look a lot like my collection of allowable 455 filters. Various websites say good for "60's Olds, Chev, etc engines. Why did I buy this? Keep them? Two many projects in my past to know why. Not listed in the Parts Interchange book.
On a side note, and I know there are airplane owners in this group, but I have found out that aviation oil filters are on back order. I now know that to be true. I am breaking in a newly OH'd Jacobs L-6 (330 HP) and have need of several oil changes due to running mineral oil. Just thought I would share that info. Better order now for late summer delivery.
Thanks.

That might be a PF25 cross reference for Chevy. Note that the PF13 has the gasket at the outer edge. Olds filters have them slightly inboard as on the PF24.

Larry,
I believe the PH13 is what I ran in my 68 Camaro with the small block engine.

Ain't seen a shaky Jake in decades. We built one at Mac's Back When that came off a sprayer plane.

Sunday I did my oil change in the GMC, then went to the airport and flew ol' shaky for an hour. Breaking in 7 cylinders. I checked my oil filter inventory and had three, which I will need to complete the break-in on this new engine. Burning a quart an hour of mineral oil right now.
AS for the PH-13, I will sell that at my upcoming garage sale.

Larry, what airframe is the L-6 in? If I remember correctly the L-4 was in the Cessna 195. So I’m guessing your plane is bigger.

The 195 Type Certificate allows all of the Jacobs engines, from the smallest 245hp to my L-6 (915 cubic inches). So my plane was not BORN with this engine, but it was installed under the original type certificate. My 195 is a 1950 195A (smaller flaps than the B). The engine is heavier and sits slightly AFT of the originals, making the rocker box cowl "bumps" in the wrong place, fore and aft wise. The solution was an installation kit that provided bigger "bumps" and also two cowl sections to "spread" the nose cowl out to a larger diameter to allow for the bigger diameter of the L-6 engine. The big Pratt 450's were also installed on the 195 airframe. My engine is only 70 cubic inches smaller than the 9 cylinder Pratts.

Very nice! I’ve always thought the 195’s were such a beautiful light aircraft. Little bit wider fuselage to accommodate the radial engine. I would love to see the factory float 195 with the “constellation“ style rudder!
Have fun! Scott.

I always love the 195. I have 2 hanging from my Christmas tree. I joined the one 195 club and was a week out of buying one. My friend who works at AOPA ask me "do I want to be a curator of a museum piece or do I want to fly? I told him that I want to fly and what I dreamed of doing. Long story short, I have owned a Maule as he suggested for over 10 years. I have camped all over the country, from Maine to Alabama and Washington state to the beaches on Assateague Island.
I still and always will love the 195. So few AD's and the spare AD doesn't even belong there. No AD from the fire wall forward. Great! Plane.
