This past weekend I ended up changing out the rear break/turn signal
bulb with LED bulbs. A friend of mine that was following me a couple
weeks ago was complaining that the lights were a bit hard to see (I did
not see it when I did light checks, but.....)
The front bulbs were changed out a while ago when I had to change out
bulbs and the bases were fused into the socket. It was just easier to
punch out the existing socket and replace it with a plastic one so that
the bulbs don't break off again and I originally planned on changing out
all the bulbs to LED.
Now I did not notice before changing out the rear bulbs if the
directionals were working but they were certainly not working after
putting in the LED bulbs. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on
this? My first though is that the relay running the directions finally
decided to die (not sure where exactly it is, but I need to poke under
the dash to see if I can find it). On second though I started to think
that the problem might be that the LED bulbs don't have the resistance
that the incandescent bulbs have and as a result the relay is not
functioning because it depends on the resistance from the incandescent
bulbs. Anyone have any experience with this?

You need to replace the signal flasher with the LED flasher or add a line
resistor , all available at your local auto store.

Gerald, remember that LED lights are polarity sensitive. Be sure to check
the polarity of your tail light bulb sockets, or if you have changed them
to something less corrosive, that the polarity is correct. Just a thought.
