RVTravels is a an online publication that tells us what is really going on in the industry. They tell the truth about both RV manufactures and about the services that affect us all. They are asking about older RVs being turned away from campgrounds based solely on the age of the coach.
If you have such a story, think about going to https://www.rvtravel.com/poll1689/ and adding your story to the list.

The question was "Have you ever been turned away from a service center because your rig is “too old”? Have you ever been turned away from a campground or RV park because your rig is “too old”?
I followed the link and answered "NO" to both questions.
Reason being is the "service center" I use is located in my garage and I tend to not camp at campgrounds that worry about things like "rig's age". I rather camp in state and national forests, state parks, Harvest Hosts and places like Walmart.

Some advertise the age limit on their home pages. It can be tough to convince them over the phone when making a reservation. But as I keep my coach shiny and exhaust quiet, a glance at it from the person checking us in at front office has always been “you’re fine” and they swipe your card.

Agreed John. If it isn’t a corrugated trailer covered in dents, mildew and
a bit of duct tape leaving a trail of fluid behind it you’re good

We have known for years now, that the RV industry has been putting together barely acceptable RVs from the factory.
The RV is slapped together, literally, and the dealers have to make good on the warrentee items as the owners find them.
BUT the recent surge of RV sales has the finished rv being pushed out the door with little inspection on the completed
product. This is from a report I read.
Top that, with sales topping out, there is very little RV inventory in the lots.
But it comes back to haunt them because people buying those very expensive RV's expect them to be ready to go with no
problems but in fact have to return with 20, 30 problems needed to be taken care of through warrentee.
It gets worse. There are so many RV's returning for service that they may not be able to bring it in for 30 days or more.
THEN when you are able to get in for service, it may take two weeks depending on if the factory gets involved. Some
reports say the RV can be tied up for 6 months or more at the dealer.
One couple picked up a new 5th wheel, took off for the trip of their life and when they pressurized the water, the cabin
filled with water. missed by both factory and dealer. Electrical problems are high on the list too.
We know that the RV industry has made mediocre products all the while but with the surge in sales, the factories have had to
try to keep up.
Another little known fact is the trained personnel at the factories to build the RVs.
From the report, there are not many there with training to build RV's.
It is a situation where they can't hire enough people to build RVs and in a lot of cases, the workers only stay a week or two
then leave.
They are being hired, put on line with no training and building the RVs that will be sold tomorrow with no experience, with
no product inspections, just run through the factory and sent to the dealer.
The report stated that this is NOT the time to be looking for an RV.

WHen I'm there, I have them come out to look at the coach and see if the
coach meets their standard in appearance.
As usual, I always can pull the Race card and that does either upset them
or avoid it by letting us camp there.

There's nothing new about the sloppy construction of RV's: In 1997, we
bought a new 40' diesel pusher -- brand unimportant in this context. I
won't go into all the problems we had with it, but on our first trip, from
Tampa to S. GA, it quit running 7 times! I've got dozens of tales about
it, but none really match that told me by another "customer" at the factory
repair shop as we sat in the waiting room: I'd told him about the fact
that none of the leaky joints in the vent pipe from the black tank had any
cement. His reply: "That's nothing, my vent pipe stopped in the closet --
they never extended it through the roof!" :-(
Top it off, and prove the quality of their "construction quality": Within
a few months after the purchase we attended a "Brand Name Rally", where I
had a hot confrontation with the president of the company (a long-time
industry executive) in front of hundreds of other owners. Later that day,
he had the audacity to stand before a meeting of all those owners: "We
hear quite a few complaints about quality control. Well, I'm here to tell
you that we allocate $10,000 to cover warranty claims on each and every
motorhome we sell. That's more economical than manning a Quality Control
Department." !!! :-(( Can anyone believe the gall that took -- totally
ignoring the customer frustrations and wasted time, energy, and money it
imposed on the buyers!!!
SO, it's NOT a recent problem -- remember, that was 1997, and he was basing
his decisions on 20+ years of prior experience in that industry. Maybe the
'78 GMC was the last time any QC was allowed?

YES KEN fully agree with you.
I remember when they were referred to as "Sticks and Staples" because that's how they are built.
A report I read stated that the most life you might expect from a lightly used rv was 10 years.
Can you IMAGINE that people are LIVING and traveling every week in these things?
I am very much surprised that the walls do not start falling off, though they don't take
accidents well at all and if you have a leak, it is usually the doom of the RV.
Back to topic:
I use to get a magazine for the RV traveler that talked about some of these parks.
I don't know what exactly they were keying in on, they all had various reasons for
restricting the age of the camper in their parks.
But the magazine suggested that in most cases, if your RV was at 10 years, you were at the limit
and the appearance of your RV was the Number one item that they looked at.
Some parks, if the RV looked new and shiney, might pass, but some parks were stuck hard on that
10 year rule no matter what your RV looked like.
I painted my GMC 10 years ago, thinking the power problems would be over by then, "didnt happen"
and it looked very nice, even without the stripes. I may get around to painting the stripes yet
as we have her running at last, only stop now is dropping the gas tanks.
Then I can test the theory of age versus looks at those parks.
Time will tell.

Currently, Tiffin has the best QC in the industry. Whether this will continue since Thor bought them is questionable.

The campsite I stayed in the last two nights had a sign on the office door "office closed to-day" "Please find a site and report to the office tomorrow morning at 9 a.m."
Three days confronted with that sign and no-one to be found, (admittedly it was pi$$ing rain the whole time - some would say perfect fishing conditions ) - anyway just packed up this afternoon and rolled home.
Oh well, camp fees saved paid for the tank of gas so all good here
