You can use just one fuel pump with the GM/Howell EFI system if you wish. There is no correlation between the Howell system. And the pumps. Except that the pump has to deliver the proper volume, and pressure. I have the GM/Howell EFI, EBL. I do have two pumps. One for each tank. Only so I can get rid of that troublesome selector valve. Not due to the EFI. I do have the GM 454 TB with the Howell. So, I only need 15 PSI to the TB. ( I really like that I need only need 15PSI. Not pushing 60 PSI. Seems safer to me.) I have one steel line from the pumps. To the TB. The regulator is in the TB. Fuel return goes to the gas fill pipe. Just simple. No third pump, regulator, surge tank, and the extra plumbing/electrical that's involved for those. ( As to the surge tank. I'm personally not too in favor of having a tank of gas up front. Not far behind the bumper. Just me.)
No vaper lock. Even when I'm pulling my enclosed 24 ft trailer on hot Summer days. GVW comes in at 24,000 lbs. All with a 403 under the floor.
