Does anyone happen to know the number of turns lock-to-lock for the
GMCMH steering box? I would just go crank up the GMC and check, but with
it parked on my service rack, the wheels can't turn that far -- and there's
stuff behind it I'd have to move before backing it out. A lot of trouble
for something I should remember, but don't (gittin' senile?).

Thanks, Billy. That's what I thought, but someone needs a box and the
rebuilt one I have is a 4-1/8 turn unit -- I wanted to be sure before I let
him have it.

Stock is more like 3 1/3 turns and a 4 plus box is asking for trouble.

Yep, using a non-GMCMH steering box will allow the full force of the
hydraulics to be applied to a 10"+ lever on a ~2" fulcrum at the knuckles,
putting LOTS of lateral force on the lower ball joints any time a full lock
turn is made. I'll mark this nicely painted, resealed unit "NOT for GMCMH".
