Has anyone replaced the entire GMC ac/defrost unit with a modern set up? I want to get rid of all of it and start fresh.

I’ve been looking at Classic Auto Air products. I’m going to have to take my dash apart to see how it’s all laid out. Do you know if the dash and system is similar to any other GMC vehicles such as panel vans or trucks of that era?

Uses a few GM Pieces, but is unique to the coach. Expect it to fall apart
when you remove it. My 78 did. Others have similar experiences.
Look into "Mac Dashes". Big $$$$, but quality seldom is inexpensive.
Fay used to make molded pieces, but since her husband Bert passed away,
she's working away from their NoCal home. Bert used to be a presence at GMC
rallies, FAY, too.
Someone on the East Coast, Frank Jenkins used to mold stuff also.
I am presently in the hospital on my cell phone, so I don't have
emails & stuff. Doing some more heart stuff.

A few years back I built a complete new dash and later replaced the HVAC.

However, someone recently posted the details of their replacement with a
modern integrated system. I probably would have gotten better results from
something like that, 'tho' I am happy with what I have (SHE usually rides
with a blanket over HER legs in the summer time). Sorry, but I don't have

Archive in Google Groups.

Faye Curtis in North Cal. Damn anesthesia and age combination.
I am here for some repair to a hole between Aortic chambers, and another
Mitral Valve "clip" Did them both on Tuesday. Good results. They are
changing my meds around a bit and monitoring my Pressures and Rythm. Had a
bit of an issue last night. They are going to poke a hole in me tomorrow
and drain off some edema caused fluids. Got a bunch of it. Glad to see it
go. Legs were swollen also. Got me on a Lasix drip and Catheter in rude
place to deal with that. No, old age ain't for the timid.

Thanks Ken. Maybe you guys and Judy and I can get together somewhere this
year again. Midway between here and Georgia. Have some crayfish and good
southern Bourbon, swap a story or two. Got a procedure after a bit. Not
quite 8:00 A.,M. here yet. They are trying to talk me into getting a
pacemaker. Unsure about that one. Step at a time, I guess.

On the HVAC front, here is a pretty slick way to add cooling without tearing out the old box or plunking and add-on box on the dash...

Thanks, Johnny. Going home today. Got some recovery to do this time. But,
all in all, I got a second mitral valve clip, they fixed the hole in my
heart, gave me a paracentecis. Drained off over 9 litres of fluid, surgery
for the pacemaker went well, I passed all my goal tests yesterday. Just
woke up after sleeping since 10:00 p.m. last night. Sun is still sight
unseen. It is 6:15 a.m. here. Clear sky, 10 over 10 visibility. Things are
looking good. Going to see my sweet Judy and my Son again today. He is down
for a few days to help out with the storm damage. Thanks for the kind
words.

All these modifications are not E.P.A. certified. Hence, no extended
warranty, either implied or otherwise is in force. Lifetime warranty means
until you die. So, who is going to be left to file a claim? Smoke and
mirrors, my friend. Snake oil for sure.
But all kidding aside, they did fix what they started out to do. I
feel better even though I am still one hurting unit. I look like someone
fragged my hooch while I was in it. Tape scars, bruises, etc. That should
fade away soon enough. But, my respect for Nurses has risen 10 fold. What a
great proffesion.
