So I've been getting the 76 ready to go up to Green Bay in April to help my younger daughter. She is going to have a girl in two weeks so I'm going up to help out with my grandson (two as of last Saturday)and whatever else she needs me to do for a month. Her husband, a great guy, unfortunately can't get any time off. The GMC will make it so much easier so I can help and still give her family space. So exciting!

Getting ready I found the water heater had rusted thru so I picked up a stainless tank from JimK and got that in and as long as I was there, took the water holding tank out and cleaned it and replaced all the water lines around there. Also had to rebuild the relay arm in the steering linkage. In the process I found the lower U joint in the intermediate steering shaft was toast. Sheesh!, I just wanted to clean this thing up to go on a little trip. Oh well, no problem, got the parts to fix that. I'll use the same Borgeson set up I did on the 73, works a treat - that's today's job.

I hope I don't find anything else. Any way it'll be a great trip, I'm sure.

Cheers!

You are going to love "going home" to your GMC. We travel from Wisconsin to Florida about every other year to visit with daughter and family. Stay in their back yard where there is a 30amp hookup (That they gave me to install) and water. We do the "Daddy Do" list during the day an after a communal dinner, "go home" at night so they can have their family time. Really works for us. Hope it does as well for you.

That sounds like a great set up. I'm going to be staying at a nice RV camp about 25 mi from my daughters' house. Lucky to find that one as not too many open this early up there.

Got the intermediate steering shaft in. Did it with only a little blood letting and vertigo (from being semi upside down under the coach). Greased up all, what, 190 zerk fittings down there. Can't take it off the blocks just yet as I had to retighted the bolts to the lower ball joints. So I'm going to give each a little kiss with the mig welder.

Time for Tylenol and a nap.

Cheers

If going up 43, be sure you have greased your front and rears. That one section of poured concrete slabs is like an hour of suspension flex test. Unless they have replaced it.

Thanks, but no, that's on the other side of the state from me. Regardless, I'm all greased up. Did a test of the new water system today and works like a charm. No leaks and real hot water!
Since I have a little extra time, I think i'll change the final - don't know how old that fluid is...

Cheers
