The rear panel on my 73 has rusted screws and I would like to replace them with stainless steel screws. I have removed the inside panel and discovered the screws are threaded into the fiberglass panel. Before I do something wrong and damage something I will regret I thought that I would ask what is the best way to remove them. I was going to spray them with some penetrating solution but I was unsure what kind to use. Any useful information would be greatly appreciated.

Jim B has a tutorial on his website on how to R&R the rear screw assemblies and he and Jim K have the correct replacement units to do it right. Call either Jim’s in the morning and get the help you need.
