Hey Gang,

I have a Zip Dee on the want list, perhaps even the smaller unit for the left side as well.

I am currently in the process of refinishing the coach. Three years of dappling with the body off and on so far.

I have made my way to the right side of the roof. I currently have the right side drip rail off and have been cleaning up gooey butyl...what a mess!

Anyways I know the clearance light by the right drip rail needs to be relocated. The question is by how much and where? Is it relocated further rearwards or future upwards or both and by how much? I figured I would do this all now.

I also figured I would do the same to the left side as well. I know the left side Zip Dee awnings do not extend out as far when open, however are they mounted on the roof the same as the right? I would assume they are but one never knows.

Thanks in advance, Jim

Jim,
We have a ZipDee awing installed. You could drop by and take some measurements of where it fits from our coach.

Not much.

Awning rail falls direct hit Center on the light. So move it up 1 full width of the light.

You need to extend the wires, dont pull on them.

Bruce,
Sounds like a good reason just to drop over and see how you’re both doing. It’s finding the time during daylight hours thats not so easy. I’m assuming your coach is still sitting outside as Paula has taken over the shop.

Jon,
Thanks for the reply.

Jim, during a total gut job of our '78 Royale CK, I wondered the same on the rear, pass side clearance light.

A call to Zip Dee got this response: "tell him to move the rear light up 2", maybe 2-1/2 to be safe"

I questioned "up" to be sure of what he meant. "Up' meant up the roof, towards the driver's side of the coach, NOT up towards the front of the coach.

HTH,
John

Jim, I was just out in the shop finishing the Zip Dee install on my 78 Royale. I moved my light just under 3 inches, about the width of the light, and that leaves plenty of room for the awning rail and assembly.

Jim,
You should get the info in a couple hours.
We are also a ZipDee distributor and can give you pointers on what you need
to know before installing them and why.
Also there are some small items you need to have to avoid problems later.

The awning on the drivers side mounts lower, closer to the windows, than the full awning on the passenger side. Therefore it is not necessary to relocate the drivers side outboard clearance light
