I have been watching this storm (hurricane Sally) and it appears to be going right over Ken's house. Here is hoping he does not suffer much damage.

Ken,

Thanks for your concern. We've had rain for the past 20 hours or so, but
little wind. Right now the rain has slacked off but it's forecast to
resume and continue until 8 AM on Friday. Our worst damage will probably
be a few bushels of pine cones and small limbs -- the two trailer loads of
those we picked up after a thunderstorm last week thinned them for this
time. Oh, and the pool has a few thousand gallons of extra water! :-)

Glad to here you fared well. I think we are about the only house in Navarre that did not lose power. It is a mess down here but we were fortunate.

Just lucky, when I walk outside it feels like Talladega with all the generators running.

Hurricane Sally visited us. Hit on main land was just due South of us, near Fairhope. Very high winds and tremendous amount of water. My rain gauge failed after 7 inches in the tube. My backup genset provided power for the 12 hours we had a power outage. Lots of vegetation debris. My hurricane shutter install was not finished, so no window protection. Miami-Dade Fortified roof replacement is supposed to be next. We'll see.
Baldwin County, where Sally trashed, has about 90% of county with no power. 4,000 trees across lines and 1,200 poles down. It will be awhile for things to return to normal. County predicts several weeks. Power companies from everywhere are coming to help.
I did emergency food distro at local food pantry this morning. 900 families were provided hard rations. With loss of power, local groceries, including Sam's, trashed their frozen goods. Many businesses are closed. Lucky to find an open eating place. Gas is scarce, no power, no pumps.
We always prepare early, with water, food, fully fueled cars and RV. Spare gas for genset. Not our first rodeo.
