So the Birch needs a generator and i scored a really good deal on a Onan Emerald 1 - 4000 watts, 200 LB

It fits in the compartment with a couple inches to spare except for the exhaust.

On this unit the muffler sticks out 4-5" off the end. I would need to make a custom pipe to route it up to put the muffler over the engine or down and out.

But i can't be the first guy to solve this problem so I'd love some input

thanks

Make sure it works before you put it in. A friend bought an emerald 1 put about $100 into it and the engine stopped when he released the start button the trouble shooting instructions said it was the control board he bought a new one.but that didn’t help. Probably a bad winding he gave up trying.

i spent some time on Smokstack.com where they REALLY understand generators. I probably need the board and the voltage regulator but we've determined the windings are good so i'll be into this about $500 for a pretty good generator.

I have a 23 footer with the smaller generator space. The rails are still in place. I plan to move the high one down to the bottom of the shelf and make a slide out.

This will allow pretty good access to the engine but not much to the generator side.

Turns out all the emeralds are the same size so there are 6K Emerals 3's out there, some with 240V.
