Hi all,
we're planning to do some boondocking in mid-September and I'm hoping to repair the gas/electric selector knob to allow us to use the fridge in "gas mode". It works perfect in electric mode and that's the only way we've used it since we bought our 78 Royale in May of 2012. The PO accidentally twisted the knob off and it's stuck in the electric mode. Has anyone attempted this repair? I want to remove the control panel cover to see what's going on, but I'm not certain how all of the knobs fasten to the rods going into the fridge. Appreciate any advice on this. I'd hate to ruin the fridge trying to "fix" it. Thank you!

Go to the rear side and rotate it.
Typical as they stick .

Same thing happened to my RM66 but I think they work the same. From the near the gas valve there was a plastic cresent-shaped cam. Lube it with some silicon spray, push in and rotate it so that it throws the lever on the gas valve (counter clockwise I think).
Once I got that valve cleaned and lubed properly I epoxied the broken off knob back on and it has held for about 4 years now. But I treat it pretty gingerly now and if I feel it hanging inside the coach, I go outside and work it from there.
