Is there supposed to be end play on the input shaft of the steering box? While centering the box, I found the input shaft moved up and down "quite a bit". (old technical term) It's kind of hard to get my head down there to measure but I would guess 1/8" to 3/16". There is no side to side movement. I didn't find any specs or mention of this in the manual or Wirth's steering box PDF. I'm sure there would be some end-play but how much and is there an adjustment for it short of tearing it apart?

Thanks, Jerry

No, only a few thousandths. Sounds like it is steering box rebuilding time.
Redhead in Seattle is the go to rebuilder. They know the GMC Steering box
very well. Quick turnaround time. It's who I use.
