I put wash nozzles in my black tank 5 years ago. Didn't do gray tank. Has worked very well. ( Use my inspection camera to check the tank out after flushing. Bob Dunahugh

If the friendly microbes in your effluent tank are doing their jobs (which
they are exceedingly good at) there shouldn't be very much present in your
tank, except for non-biologicals like toilet paper. There should be
absolutely nothing else in that tank. No popsicle sticks, make-up tissues,
nothing that did not pass through your body before entering the tank. Empty
your tank after moving the coach a good distance at road speeds. It should
not need very much flushing out. Dry tanks cause more problems than they
help solve.

I have used the microbes in the tank and it has worked. My tank sender unit is not working so I’ll have to check into that when I go thru the refurb process. The sender is fairly new and has never seem to work when installed but last I checked it after it being removed from tank and cleaned is it did register on the panel when I worked the armature. So my local RV supplier suggested a microbe product called Commando and I used it with Borax and a little dish soap to do the flush and to hopefully get the sender to work but had no success on it. So I’ll look into it when I get working on these upgrades.

I also add cleaning vinegar to the black tank, after use. It really helps is inexpensive.

Every great once in a while, I'll put a few spoons full of Rid-X in the
black tank. Once a year or so, following an after-trip dump, I'll flush
the tank with the spray washer. We never detect any septic odor nor have
any build-up beneath the toilet. I NEVER put anything caustic nor
antiseptic into the tank.

The problem is usually with hair tangled around the sender. Microbes will not work for that. You will have to remove the sender and clean it by hand.
