I am the guy that hauled two hundred pounds of tools under the sofa. I am wanting to shed some weight. Part of what I want to leave behind is my front bearing replacement tool. Who among us, travels the country assuming a front bearing is going to need to be replaced. I would hate to do that alongside the road. Anyway, just asking. Thinking it might stay home next time.

I think I'm in the same boat carrying spare parts,, only 200 lbs might be on the low side. Here's my list:-complete front axle-bearing tool & bearings-starter-fan clutch-air bag-throttle cable-engine water pump-house water pump-engine fuel pump-engine thermostat-complete distributor & extra modules-extensive set of tools-set of engine belts-set of exhaust manifold gasketsNow, in 15 years what have I needed of the above items while on the road......one ignition module.I must be looney tunes.Ray Erspamer 78 Royale Sent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone

I think because I pay close attention to our coach and do routine checks & maintenance. Plus we use our coach a lot and regular use is good for it.

If you are worried about front Bearing, it is not the bearing, but a worn
knuckle that lets the bearing wobble and let the grease out the out
Dave Lensy and we know how lto solve the issue so you can drive it 80,000 -
100,000 miles without touching it.
The only tools I carry is the basic , and most trips we put on over
thousand miles.

And I thought that I carried a lot of spares. I carry a starter, complete Computer Controlled distributor, fuel injection computer, distributor cap, 12-volt air compressor and fuel injection fuel pump to round out the bigger pieces. Small stuff includes ignition modules, module grease, distributor wiring harnesses, set of belts, spare tire pressure monitoring sensors and batteries, fuel filters, electrical connectors, and other small items. Tools include an electric impact wrench, assortment of pliers, sockets in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sizes with a large assortment of end wrenches, screwdrivers, rubber mallet, hammer, motor oil, transmission fluid, hatchet and other stuff I can't remember I have. Test equipment includes a timing light, multimeter, module tester, laptop for EBL, test light, and other things I can't remember. I use an App on my phone to help me locate the stuff I keep on board since they are stored all over.
In the over 22 years I've had the coach, the only items I've had to use relate to ignition and fuel. I've replaced the module more than once, but only one time was it bad. Also a distributor cap, and the wiring harness from the cap to the distributor base. I changed fuel filters once on the road. I probably get away with just keeping the starter and ignition stuff and less tools.

Never had to replace front wheel bearings on the road but in a 29 year span I replaced 1 cylinder head That was badly cracked , an hei distributor that had the wire pigtail shorted , 2 freshly rebuilt cylinder heads that had 4 stuck exhaust valves due to an incompetent machinist , a couple of alternators and several minor things. It is always nice to be prepared with tools and parts especially if you travel in barren areas. It is always a comfort when your wife says how long will it take to fix and you are prepared to do it . Head problems generally mean a trip to a machine shop .in my case I shipped them a couple hundred miles round trip but I had the headgaskets.in stock.

The rule is.....if you have in the coach you will never need it, the day you take it out is the day that it will fail on the road. I beleive its better to have it and never need it than not have it and need it....lol.
Besides if you remove all that stuff your only going to replace it with more.....does anyone have open storage space in their coaches? I dought it.....lol.

In most coaches with side bath if you take the small cabinet out that holds the toilet paper you can store a lot of parts in there .
