You cannot run the front wheels with the shaft out. When we moved 2-3 miles,
I felt that my coach will not be effected by doing . Wrong. I ended up
redoing the bearing and knuckle.
If you use a trans fluid pump you can tow it all 6 on the ground. The tow
unit better be heavy.

If I were to do this I'd hire a wrecker that is capable of lifting the front wheels off the ground, raise the airbags to their max, and close the valves at the airbags to minimize the opportunity for leaks. Of course, as mentioned, you want good tires on the ground. Check the manufacture date code, don't just look at the tread. Tires older than 8 years should not be trusted.
Last time I had my GMC towed this way the cost was $5.00 per loaded mile.

probably All Wheel drive, rather than just 4wd.

Perhaps Randy Van Winkle can chime in. I remember he and his brother towed a 23' a few miles and it didn't want to follow worth beans. They had a tow bar connected (bumper off) and the tail wag of the tow vehicle made the coach start right on a left turn and it didn't want to correct. (same with the right turn) Randy's brother ended up having to man-handle the steering wheel to get it to follow.

With the rear wheels on a dolly, you'd still have the front wheels
turning the transmission, wouldn't you?

While full timing a decade or so ago we towed a 1999 Subaru Outback std shift behind our large diesel pusher for close to 80,000 miles. Only thing you needed to do was put it in neutral and unlock the steering wheel. Towed like a dream. Around 3600 pounds so a bit heavy for a GMC to tow. We gave it to our granddaughter and it is still going strong at nearly 200,000 miles. Never saw the inside of a shop that I know of but I think I recall my son saying he had to change the clutch after she learned to drive without leaving one foot on it......
As indicated in the post, the auto trans units cannot be towed four wheels down.

Emery,
Many Subarus are four wheel drive. Those that aren't are front wheel drive. Those could be pulled on a dolly.
The four wheel drive Subarus don't have a real transfer case. Just a dog clutch to the rear drive. That bearing doesn't get any lube if the transmission isn't turning.
What I can't figure out is why pulling the rear drive shaft wouldn't get by this.
