Gents if you have installed a set of wind wings can you answer this for me?
It says in the instructions to "Drill a #29 hole one half inch deep and tap using a 8-32 tap.". Have any of you used a 9/64th bit instead...the cross reference says #29 bit or 9/64th for 8-34nf but not for 8-32nc.....did you buy a #29 bit or did you do something else?

Call Blaine Merrell and ask him. He is the one that makes those. He has done bunches and bunches of them and is a retired machinist. He will be very helpful and will enjoy your call.
In my opinion, which is not worth much, I would use the smaller 1/8" and let the tap make it larger. BUT I AM NOT THE EXPERT. I think that is soft aluminum you are threading.
Call Blaine.

Oh. Yes, those were built by either Blain Merrell or Mo Lewis.
I'd do like Ken B suggested on the hole.
I like mine placed so that they'll swing all the way in without hitting
either the top or bottom. Tighten the hinge to the point that they'll
stay where you put them.

Used an 1/8" drill bit as Ken mentioned and lubed the tap as Blain recommended when i contacted him....worked beautiful.
