Greetings all,
I am in the process of replacing the black tank on my '77 Birchaven.
The replacement black tank from Jim K is slightly different from the OEM
and I need to make new hanger brackets to hold it up and in place, so
new screw hole locations will be needed.
The bottom-most layer appears to be thin aluminum sheet and I presume
there is plywood flooring above that - but how thick is it so I can put
in an appropriate screw (or twelve) to hold up the tank without piercing
the floorboards or the tub floor?
Thanks in advance
Stu

I just redid all my floors on my '77. On a ' 77 you have 3/4". Earlier models have 1"
You have 1" on the stairs and upper deck under the seats but the rest is 3/4"
You need self tapping screws to catch the aluminum crossmembers. I believe the factory screws are 1.5" or 1.75".
Good luck. I can send pics if needed.

Also need to account for the insulation I believe. The foam insulation is
about 1.5” iirc.

Yes. Insulation thickness varies a bit, as it was sprayed in. But, Todd's
measurements are very close for a 1977.

So (just to be sure I understand correctly) there is insulation in the
floor between the thin aluminum sheeting and the plywood? And this
applies to a Transmode base finished by Coachmen?
Thanks in advance ~

Yep, I'm seeing it. Your normal posting has a Canadian flag icon and the one in question you didn't send has an American flag, if that means anything.
