G'day folks.

I was lucky enough to find a parts coach that was fully upgraded and have been scabbing parts as needed. One of the many cool features my parts coach had was a really cool fender flare kit; front and back.

This one;

https://www.gmcrvparts.com/product-p/gm23-026-36.3.htm

Mine is a fixed skirt...

I've painted and installed the fronts but wondered if anyone has/had experience with the rear flares. Can they be modified to gain easy access to the bogey area? I have the original T -skirts as well. Just wondering if the cool factor is worth it here...

TIA

Shawn

Shawn,

Not an explicit answer to your question, but a bit of information: When I
had the GMC painted, about 18 years ago, I used PL Urethane caulk to seal
those fender flares in place, making them virtually permanently attached.
While that caulk turned out to be a mistake because paint won't adhere to
it, the flares have never needed to be removed during all that time. Now,
if I should decide to pull the bogies for pin replacement, I may have to
eat those words. But, if I were you, I wouldn't worry much about
ease-of-removal -- but I also would NOT glue them on again!

Shawn,
If you look at the second picture (of that JimK add...the one of the actual coach) you can see the cut line that someone did to mount the flare permanent but still be able to remove the center bar of the skirt....you could do the same if you wanted. All you have to do is draw the cut line you like, once cut glass in a ledge or lip on the back for the cut lower to be fastened back onto to with a couple Dzus fasteners and make a bracket for the bottom.

Or, as Ken said, not worry about it....with my coach in full raise their is quite alot of room in between the tires and the skirt to work but then again i have stock air bags.
