Curious question.....on the vehicles the company i work for builds we use dual electric wiper motors instead of one with long linkages.....anyone ever do this on our coaches? I thought i saw one done over in the GMC Photo's but not sure.

Sir, I have not done it on a coach but I have a Kenworth W-900A model with separate air operated wipers. In the 30 years of owning that truck I have yet to get them to stay in sync, and I have tried every time it rained. I don’t think electric would be any different.

There are several photos in this album. The Cole Hersee switch keeps the wipers synchronized by triggering off the pulse from the park circuit in the motors. The pivot shaft arm had to be re-drilled to get the correct wiper sweep. This might be a tight fit on a factory coach with all the stuff they pack under the hoods.

Rich,

On my coach, the dash air and duct system is inside the cab, the windshield washer reservoir is removed and the bracket for the old hydraulic wiper motor was trimmed to fit the brake vacuum pump. I've probably removed other stuff but don't recall offhand. With all those parts and hoses etc gone there's a lot more empty volume under the hood than most GMC's. I think that dual wiper motors would still fit in a factory built coach but it would be a squeeze.

I've always wanted to pursue Pantagraph wipers like the buses have that go side to side and cover the entire Windshield.   There was a GMC up-fitter called Silver Motor Coach that did that and they looked awesome.   They also made a 28' coach,, a 32' and a 34'   The OEM wiper system for the passenger side is basically useless. Sent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone

Eric Tanner did one where the wipers go in opposite direction and park
in the middle.

When I had my 3rd GMC, I was looking at the pantograph assemblies off of Blue Bird TC2000 with their wiper systems. I'd like to see how they would be, as I think they would beat the system we currently have...My concern was the curvature of the glass, but the TC2000 doesn't have a huge sweep... It could work, and the motors are right behind the mounting point on the openable panels. They were controlled by either one or two control knobs, with the wash button built in.

That being said... I really want Ken Henderson's kit... I keep finding these motors in the yards, but they seem impossible to get off. They do seem very similar to the 88 up Chevy truck motors, but I'm betting the mounting is way off...
