Here is a different take on a tire question - I have seven Firestone Transforce radial tires 225/75/16, load range E, that are six years old. I want to take them off my GMC for age. So, if my 2004 Ford Ranger 4x4 pickup calls for 245/75/16...is there a design or engineering factor I may not be aware of that would make them unsuitable to switch to the truck? The Transforce probably have 10,000 miles on them, and I would do all five on the truck so spare would match (and replace the 16 year old original spare). I would expect at least 4 years of service on the truck if suitable.
The inflation chart from Firestone goes down to 35 psi, which is close to the 30 psi Ford recommends.

I understand the tires being an inch shorter (resulting in truck being 1/2 inch closer to ground) and speedometer change, and a bit higher RPM, but I'm curious to learn factors that go in to this. Would they ride like bricks or soften up at lower psi? Thoughts?
Here is a handy dandy comparison site also:

I see both charts, height difference should be 75% of 20 mm or 15mm as not expressed in inches. I would use them and inflate to what is on Ford door sticker. They are more HD than what the vehicle needs not less. Not sure if you will notice tougher ride on a Ranger. Your speedo will read higher, less speeding tickets. .
