Today was "Yard Men Day", the every-other Thursday when SHE has two
possibly-illegal Guatemalans come to do their thing. Today they showed up
with two teenage helpers also, I suppose a result of the Wuhan Virus.
With all that help available, I figured it was time to take the black
plastic cover off of our 18'x36' pool. I really dreaded seeing what was
hiding under there because a few weeks ago the plastic pulled some of the
bricks from one side into the pool, allowing some of the winter debris to
escape from above to below the cover.
After siphoning a little residual water from the top of the cover, two of
us peeled the cover back and moved it to the yard for folding and
disposal. Lo & Behold! There was very little debris in the pool, and NO
fungus, mold, green or yellow stuff to be seen anywhere! I was shocked.
The water was as clear as when we covered it in October.
I spent the rest of the day correcting the few problems: All the pool
tools' (dippers) fabric had disintegrated over the winter so I had to
depend on the pool sweep to get out the few pine needles. I managed to get
2 of the 11 bricks out before the tools were demolished, then I had to dive
for the other 9. The water was quite comfortable on this 90* day. Then
the pool sweep started acting up, so I spent all afternoon repairing,
breaking, and ordering parts for it.
All that to tell you, "No, I didn't get the ATF back into the GMC and check
for leaks!" I need something to keep me busy tomorrow+. :-) And too bad
I can't ask anyone to come help!
Y'All stay safe out there -- we've already heard of too many friends
succumbing to the Wuhan Virus!

HaHa! Possibly legal!!
We must be on the same lawn plan! My "foreign exchange students" showed up today for the every other Thursday lawn trim. Normally a four man crew, but today was a little different. The boss on his riding lawnmower, the wife on the self propelled push lawn mower, and the two kids on the weedwacker/leaf blower. Wow! I was shocked!....I did not expect them till all this was over....
I cooked Carnitas last night with tons of left overs. So Syd and I made them all lunch with the left overs. Now we're not so much gringos!! I have a feeling their going to want me join their mariachi band! And I think I will, because we both love tequila!!
Good things happen in trying times.....
Be good to each other...

Hmmm. We must be doing something wrong. We hired a landscape company to
perform a Spring Clean Up. Pre paid part of their fees. They haven't shown
up at all. We have 1 acre with a stream bank overgrown with evergreen
blackberries, and fence rows the same way due to our neighbors neglect on
both sides. They claim no one showed up to work.

Ken,
Be happy that you were able to have your "Yard Men Day".
Here in Michigan we can't have "Yard Men" until May if then.
As of yesterday (April 9) Michigan has 21,504 reported COVID-19 cases with 1,076 dead, our county had 4,247 cases with 246 dead. Someone said "this is less deadly than the H5N1 of the last round". Who knows?
Yesterday our governor (April 9) announced "Beginning Friday, people aren't allowed to travel between homes they own in Michigan or to vacation rentals, and large retail stores must cordon off areas dedicated to furniture, gardening and paint, which aren't viewed as essential supplies. But residents are allowed to travel back to Michigan from another state or go to homes or places of residence outside the state."
Our lawn is starting to grow and we have a lawn service (was cheaper than cutting the grass myself) for our 1.5 acres. Per the new rules they will not be able to cut our grass. I no longer have a garden tractor that runs. I don't know what to do as you can't even go to a store now and buy lawn equipment. I might get some goats in to eat the grass.
In addition, we have a summer place near the Straits of Mackinac on Lake Michigan that is being encroached upon by the significantly rising water levels. It is now illegal for us to go up there to check things out. Who knows what we will find when we are finally able to drive up there.
So while we wait this thing out, by being safe. I will continue to work on the GMC indoors and do the other home improvement jobs my wife has on her list.
We did get to use our GMC in early March. We started out on a 3 week trip to Florida, but only made it as far as Louisville when we realized that the shi#t was starting to hit the fan and that we might be better off at home than stuck on the road.

Richard,
I was ASTOUNDED this morning to see the no-between-homes announcement out
of MI this morning. Wish someone would explain the logic behind that. I'm
sure a lot of folks (like my daughter & SIL here in GA) would be more
isolated -- and happier -- at their second homes. And would have more
opportunities of save outdoor activities & exercise. Strange ruling, IMHO.
And how could one be more isolated from crowds than while riding around on
a lawn mower.
Y'All stay safe out there!

The GMChas upholstered dinette and couch/bunks now installed. All the fluids changed. Brakes at least working. Carpet shampooed. Still stained but they're clean stains and smaller than they were. Plumbing checked and working. Nothing left to do on the coach but run it another hundred miles or so and then swap the oil. Consequently I've been yard working. I've a couple of acres in chain link, bordered outside the fance by strips twenty to fifty feet wide of underbrush and vines, which keeps us from bothering the abutting neighbors and vice versa. Normally I'm the slob of the highway, right now the whole place is manicured and I've hauled six pickup loads of branches, scrub, and stuff that's needed disposing for several years. I even reseeded several spots over the new septic system that didn't grow out last summer. If this keeps up, I'm gonna paint all the trim and windows. Gonna be the showplace of Highway 211. Two years and I'll have the jungle again.
