What do you use to flush transmission cooler and oil cooler lines. I am reinstalling the radiator and want to flush the cooler lines before reinstalling them. The metal trans lines I can use refrigerant line flush and it is volatile enough to evaporate and not hurt the metal lines BUT the oil cooler lines are metal and rubber hose and I want them to be cleaned out but what is the best to clean them with.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I used CRC Brake Clean

I am getting ready to install a new engine. My way is to replace the cooler lines and bypass the radiator cooler with a new external. My engine has not come apart (yet), but I don't want one speck in the system. Make sure you flush the filter adaptor as well.

I used Lubeguard Kooler Kleen transmission line flush to clean out transmission cooler after transmission failure. It worked well and you can see the gunk that got flushed out and run it until flow is completely clear. One can was plenty big to get clean flow from the trans cooler. Having two cans might be better if you are working with thick oil in the engine oil cooler.

"Excessive" caution is needed when cleaning coolers, especially engine
coolers. I had a long talk just yesterday with a long-time NASCAR mechanic
(who happens to own 11 GMC's at the moment). He mentioned a recent engine
rebuild which he completed. He rigged an elaborate recirculating flusher
for the coolers. He said that he ran the flusher on the engine cooler for
many hours before the visible filter he used was clean. When he finally
connected the cooler to the engine, he included a return line filter which
he checked periodically for 3 frequent oil changes before all traces of
debris disappeared. His comment about the transmission cooler being easier
to clean makes me think it may be a simple tube through the radiator, but
that's a WAG -- who knows from personal experience?

Didn't someone - Rob maybe - take the end off a radiator and take some pictures of the coolers?
Since the last engine failed from a broken crankshaft, even after having the radiator cleaned with pumped hot brake fluid I didn't reuse the oil cooler on the new engine. If it seems hotter than I like, I'll install an outboard cooler. Belt and suspenders.

I asked why he went to so much trouble to save the OEM oil cooler instead
of just installing an external one. "I don't trust them. I've lost at
least one engine because of a failure." I don't share that concern -- I've
run both for many years without any problem -- 'tho' I use hard lines
between the in-radiator and the add-on.

I share his concern, but I'll do your solution if I add one. I had one fail, fortunately as I( was backing into an RV spot at the Anniston Army Depot. Instead of lunching the mill, I oiled the pad substantially before I shut it down. It was installed on flex lines, but even with them secured about a foot away they had moved enough to fail the input line to the cooler. If I install another, it will have solid lines bolted to something substantial.. likely the cross member in front of the radiator.
