For those of you who will travel West on I-10 to get to the great rally at Patterson.
Marilyn and I will "sponsor" and pre-rally no-host get-together at Buccaneer State Park. We did this prior to last event at Patterson and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Buccaneer State Park is about 3 hours from Patterson, making it a nice drive in the morning, arriving around noon. I really like to arrive earlier than later. This place fits my needs.
For directions, take exit 3 (Stennis Space Center), go South about 10 miles and you cannot miss the park.
The park has been completely rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina leveled the original park. All pads are paved, all bathrooms are new, modern and clean. You can walk to the beach. And, it is a short drive to the Silver Slipper Casino.
P.M. me if you know that you will be there. OR, just show up. After all, it is a no-host.
We intend to arrive on April 13th and head to Patterson on the 15th. We know a great Mexican Restaurant.

A follow on to the original posting. Marilyn and I are sponsoring a No-Host Rally at Buccaneer State Park in Mississippi, before GMCMI rally at Patterson. We will be on site April 13th and 14th, leaving the morning of the 15th. Buccaneer is 150+ miles from Patterson, making for an easy drive into Patterson and arriving there about 1300.
We are on site 141, in the Treasure Cove section of the park. This loop has a bathhouse in the middle of it. If you are coming, try to select a site from 135 to 149. This will keep you with the group.
Buccaneer was completely re-built after Hurricane Katrina. All sites are full hook-up and paved. Bathhouses are modern and everything is kept clean.
You are very near the Silver Slipper Casino for those who wish to try their luck. The beach is vey close.
We will be doing a pot-luck event Tuesday night.
Traveling east to west on I-10, use exit 3, head South, park is about 14 miles. Even though State signage indicates Exit 14, it is though town and has a very difficult RR crossing berm. Three is much better.

Tom,
I am still deep in the planning stage so no bets - yet, but My old copy of Street Atlas lists the possible exits as 2 & 13. 2 being the farthest west.
If you dive into Google Earth, that berm on Waveland Ave is pick up truck tall, but the one at Highland Dr. looks even meaner. So, Claremont Blvd is the best bet. Tick me off, GE often reports elevation, but it is not in this area.
Matt
We are planning to run south on the Trace again. That and lots of other things are making planning interesting.

After running back and forth to the hospital in New Orleans, please note the following gas locations, based on price. Incidentally, paid $1.949 in Louisiana.
All on I-10 (moving from East to West).
Exit 142 (Florida), Marianna. Somewhat difficult to get into, especially towing. Not RV friendly, but can be used.
Exit 192 (Florida), just past Tallashaee, FL. Pilot, north side of I-10. RV friendly. Cheapest price along I-10 in Florida.
Exit 49 (Alabama) Buc-kee's, exit for beach expressway in Alabama (second exit going West from Florida Line},South side of road, drive past the building and take second entrance, easier on RV. 120 gas pumps. Cleanest restrooms on the Interstate. Probably cheapest gas in Alabama.
Exit 31. (Mississippi). Pilot, South side of Interstate. RV pumps. Easy Stop.
See you'll there.

Wish we could make it. We loved that park and was there the year Katrina destroyed it. So good to hear it has made a comeback.

With the cancellation of Patterson rally, we are still going to Buccaneer State Park as planned.
Join us if you like. On Weds, we will leave for Sunshine Statesman Rally in Ocala.
By the way, we cancelled going to Tucson for big FMCA rally.

We, along with several other Saguaro Jetsetters, are still planning to go to the big FMCA rally in Tucson since we are local. Hopefully they don't cancel it at the last minute.
