Proceed with extreme caution on those drain plugs. More often than not,
they are not loose, but are seeping fuel around the outside perimeter of
the fitting. I use a 3/8" drive breaker bar with an Allen socket. Sneak up
on the torque by gradually increasing your pull on the breaker bar. If it
won't budge, clean the area thoroughly, and wipe it clean and inspect to
see what you have. If it leaks around the fitting, try epoxy.

Years back I could not get them out with a hex wrench. I finally used a small pipe on the two or three threads showing. They turned right out.

Don't worry too much about tightening, just hope you don't meet or anger the one that took it out.

Jeff,
Both my tanks are out right now - just checked. My drain plugs require a 1/4-inch hex key or hex-socket drive.
